What Is Watershed?
It refers to ALL our rivers, creeks, streams, dams, irrigation
systems, lakes, and sea coast (where all the water empties into);
and all the land that surround these bodies of water, including the
upland mountains, lowlands and forest areas.
Why do we have to save our watershed?
Everyone (humans, animals, insects, plants, and trees) in a given
watershed depends on the health and quality of the watershed for
drinking water, flood protection, food, raw materials, and other
life-sustaining elements.
What will happen if the watershed will disappear?
- Clean water will be hard to come by
- Supply of rice, vegetables, and raw materials will be
significantly reduced
- Flashfloods and landslides will become more dangerous
- Plants, animals and fishes that depend on the ecosystem of our
watershed will disappear

So how can we protect our watershed?
Share its importance to our neighbors and friends. By spreading the
word, we may eventually reach the people who might have plans to put
our watershed at risk. Then we can hope that they too will be
enlightened to protect our watershed. |
