Nature Knows
What Is Best
Nature has its processes, rhythm and cycle. Any disruption that may happen
affects the environment. It is important for humans to understand what
nature brings. They have to abide by its laws, know it cycle and take care
of these resources to have a steady supply.
One of nature's processes is the cyclic
flow of materials or nutrients in the ecosystem, also called nutrient
cycling. In nature, nutrients pass from the environment to the organisms
and back to the environment.
A disruption in this cycle is brought
about by the excessive cutting of trees without replacement. When trees
are cut down excessively, there will be very few left to absorb carbon
dioxide , thus the volume of this gas in the atmosphere increases. This
results to a carbon dioxide build-up which contributes to global warming.
In agriculture, an old practice called
organic farming also keeps harmony with nature's laws. It involves the use
of organic materials like compost in cultivating the farm. This enriches
and maintains soil fertility.
A disruption of this natural process, is
the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in farming. Chemicals
increase the acidity of the soil. It eventually becomes infertile making
it unfit for the survival of plants and other organisms. Chemical
fertilizers move out easily and go to the rivers and lakes causing
pollution.
In communities, there are old practices
and popular traditions that older people still practice which reflect some
balance with nature. For example, in the farm, when harvest time is over,
the farmers, would allow the hay to decay and made into compost or organic
fertilizers instead of burning it. Some practice the use of herbs.
The total progress and development of our
society depends on the inhabitants living on it. So, everything we do in
our environment should abide with nature's best in order to maintain the
balance of our ecosystem.
